Marie Antoinette trailer online2006-09-06The trailer for the new Sofia Coppola film, Marie Antoinette, is online. The film stars Kirsten Dunst and Jason Schwartzmann and is a biographical movie about the life of Marie Antoinette, the French Queen who was married at 15, became queen at 19, and then was sent to the guillotine during the French Revolution.
So does that mean Kirsten Dunst gets beheaded? Hmmmm. That might be very smart casting indeed. Not quite as clever as killing off Paris Hilton in that one movie but good enough. Good enough.
The trailer features music from Gang of Four and Joy Division as the film apparantly has a "rock and roll twist". Like as in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet? So many questions with obvious answers...

Taking Back Sunday's bassist, Matt Rubano has officially named his band "not emo".
Here's what he said: "As far as emo is concerned we don't fancy ourselves an emo band. I don't think anyone does. I mean it's great, it's a genre, it's a description, it's a box. But we've never thought of our band as being in a box, even though it's evident where we come from. But punk, hardcore, rock - we have influences of all those things. I think our goals are to write good
music and whoever perceives it as good music if it's emo fans or rock fans or pop music fans, so be it, who cares?"
Fair enough. I mean, I guess I'd probably say that too...if I was in an emo band.

Spam + Blogs = Trouble
i guess with spam filters becoming more and more exact, people looking to make a buck or people just looking to mess with people had to find a new way to go about it. there are times when i hate the internet.

comments LeTigre's Johanna Fateman opens salon2006-08-31Le Tigre's Johanna Fateman and hair stylist Shaun Cottle have just taken over the legendary Seagull salon in NYC's West Village.
Originally opened in 1971, the salon was named after the Richard Bach bestseller Jonathan Livingston Seagull and was the first unisex barber shop in the city.
Fateman often works the counter as receptionist.

comments The Spinto Band make plea for mandolin2006-08-29The Spinto Band have made a plea for their missing mandolin which was stolen during a recent Manchester performance.
Their open letter reads as follows:
Dear friends,
Tonight we experienced a tragic loss. During this evening's performance at
Manchester Academy 3 (08/23/06), somebody stole our Mandolin from the stage.
This instrument has little monetary worth, but provides a wealth of
sentimental value to us. It is a Kay electric mandolin with a wood sunburst
finish, white pickgaurd, and a crack in the headstock. We are prepared to
offer healthy reward upon its return. In addition, if the Mandolin is
received before we play Reading / Leeds, the person who delivers it will be
offered tickets to those events. This is truly a sad day for The Spinto
Band. If you have any information regarding its whereabouts or wish to
express your sympathy, please contact us.
